Update

I just thought I would update. Because Alivia had a UTI already, it is standard procedure to do a VCUG. They also wanted to do a ultrasound to check to see if Alivia had developed hyrdronephrosis, which is the same problem Evan has with his kidneys. We went to DeVos last week Friday for an ultrasound and the results showed she does have it. Hydronephrosis is not life threatening. Let me briefly explain what it is...The kidney is connected to the urethra, which carries urine to your bladder. Hyrdronephrosis is dialation of the kidneys, or in other words, urine is backing up and flushing back into the kidney. In Evan's case, he has an obstruction where the urethra and the kidney meet, which is causing the hyrdronephrosis. We arent really sure what is causing it in Alivia's case. Over time, as kids grow, they typically grow out of it. Worst case scenerio if he doesnt grow out of it, they go in surgically and take the blockage out. At this point, it isnt hurting Evan. If it wouldnt get better and we didnt do anything about it, it would lead to kidney failure in that kidney...but thats worst case, and Evan is a grade 3.5 out of 5, so he is ok. What this means for Alivia is just more doctor appointments, and visits to DeVos, but thats ok. DeVos is great and its a blessing living so close! Anyways, just thought I would update!

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about the diagnosis, but as you said it's not life threatening and the kids will more than likely grow out of it.

I know how it is....appointments galore! Hang in there!
